Week Ahead: 'Hunger Games' at the Drive-in, Nature Talk, James Salter

MONDAY

Drive-in Movie: Watch "The Hunger Games" at Coopers Beach in Southampton Village to benefit the Southampton Chamber of Commerce. The cost is $40 per carload or $10 per person.   Tickets can be purchased in advance at the chamber office at 76 Main Street, or at the gate on a first-come, first-served basis. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dark.

Nature Talk:  Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt presents an illustrated talk by Peter Warny, an ecologist formerly with the Nature Conservancy and National Audubon Society. Warny will discuss the issues affecting coastal pond ecology in both rural and urban landscapes. Meet at Long Pond Greenbelt Nature Center in Bridgehampton before 7 p.m.

—  Albany Update:  The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons hosts a talk by New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele titled “Highlights of the 2013 Legislative Session.” The talk begins at 7 p.m., taking place at Hampton Library in Bridgehampton. Refreshments will be served at the beginning of the meeting. A question-and-answer session will follow the program.

Political Fundraiser: There will be a benefit at 5:30 p.m. at the Hampton Hills Golf Course clubhouse in Westhampton for the campaign of Linda Kabot, a candidate for Southampton Town supervisor. Tickets are $75 each or two for $125.

FRIDAY

Sketch Club: Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill hosts the Sip and Sketch Social Club inside its Lichtenstein Theater for a life drawing workshop. The theme of the evening is "At the Beach," and instructor Barbara Thomas has invited two sitters to pose in bathing suits. Instruction is available to those who want it, and artists of all levels of experience are invited. Drinks from the Cafe by Art of Eating are welcome in the theater. The cost is $10, or free for members and students. Advance reservations are recommended. It begins at 6 p.m.

Arts Festival Music:  Parrish Art Museum in Water MIll presents a concert on the terrace, a sunset with Bach, and the International Chamber Soloists. Enjoy a glass of wine against the setting sun while listening to concertos performed by award-winning musicians Dmitri Berlinsky and Mikhail Bezverhny. Music begins at 6 p.m., free with museum admission.

Author Talk:  The Hampton Library in Bridgehampton welcomes James Salter, the award-winning novelist, short-story writer and screenwriter, to Fridays at Five. He served 12 years before leaving the military following the publication in 1957 of his first novel, "The Hunters." Cost is $15. Gates open at 4:30.

Outdoor Film Screening: Catch "Jaws" at Southampton Center at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton Village for free at 9:30 p.m.
