FRIDAYS AT FIVE PRESENTS JAMES SALTER AUGUST !6

James Salter is an award-winning novelist, short-story writer and screenwriter.  A graduate of West Point, he completed flight training and was a career officer and pilot in the United States Air Force.  He served 12 years before leaving the military following the publication in 1957 of his first novel, The Hunters.  His other works include A Sport and a Pastime, Light Years and his latest novel, All That Is.  His short story collection Dusk and Other Stories won the 1989 PEN/Faulkner Award and he was elected to The American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2000.  He wrote the screenplay for the acclaimed film Downhill Racer and the documentary short Team, Team, Team, took first prize at the Venice Film Festival.
