This 4th of July was a Home Run in the Hamptons

In real estate it is , location, location, location. For holidays and vacations it is, weather, weather, weather, and this 4th of July the Hamptons had THE weather. Beaches were dreamy, with swimmable surf, almost cloudless skies, and mid eighties heat. I took my wife for a bike ride to the ocean to avoid the parking mess and the water was so refreshing. The absence of rain took the drama out of the question: "Will there be fireworks, at Montauk, Sag Harbor, Shelter Island and North Sea?" The barbacue I attended was poolside with swimming until midnight. The beer was cold, the hotdogs were great. One funny story: Judy McDowell wife of artist Michael McDowell started serving hot dogs in the late afternoon and at the same time put next to me a sun block spray that was mustard orange. When she handed me my hot dog I sprayed it with sun block thinking it was a spray mustard. Worse I bit into it. It was horrible, my mouth is still numb. For those who care about such things my beagle Bo attended the party along with my lovely wife Cindi. The McDowell's also have a dog name Beau, so the dogs had a great time... along with all the young children and adults. There was an infant, children in both single didgit ages as well as teens. Then there were some folks in their 20's, 30's and so forth. It was what the 4th of July is truly all about. Good families and good friends. I know most people who were in the Hamptons for the 4th have a similar story. It was great.
