PHOTOS: Beachgoers Welcome Summer at Coopers
On the first day of the season, many flock to the beach.
Where else would you rather be on the first day of summer, but at the beach?
For many in Southampton, that's exactly what they did. Coopers Beach in Southampton was populated with sunbathers, sand loungers and a few who dipped in the ocean water in Friday afternoon.
The favorable weather and the top-rated beach drew locals as well as visitors from other areas of New York and other parts of the country and the globe.
Friday was also the last day that weekday parking is free at Coopers. Starting Saturday, a parking pass is required seven days a week while lifeguards are on duty.
