FBI Searching Shinnecock Reservation

Agents on Wednesday searched the tribe's gaming authority trailer as part of an unspecified probe, Newsday and 27east report.

FBI agents on Wednesday searched the Shinnecock Indian Reservation's gaming authority trailer as part of an unspecified probe into the tribe, FBI officials told Newsday.

As more than a dozen agents searched the trailer around 10 a.m., members of the tribe gathered at the Shinnecock community center, Newsday reports.

"We can confirm we are doing a search in connection with an FBI investigation," FBI spokesman Peter Donald told Newsday. "It's ongoing."

According to 27 East, eyewitnesses observed FBI officials along with New York State Troopers removing files from the trailer.

The gaming authority is made up of five tribal members who liaise with Gateway Casino Resorts, which is backing the tribe's casino plans.
