Philanthropist and part-time Southampton resident recognized.

Part-time Southampton resident Jean Shafiroff was among the honorees at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services spring benefit Wednesday at New York City’s Plaza Hotel.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg addressed the crowd during the cocktail hour of the event, which raised $1.3 million for community-based programs, residential facilities and day-treatment centers that annually serve more than 55,000 New Yorkers in need, according to JBFCS.

WNBC News Anchor Melissa Russo served as emcee.

Shafiroff, in attendance with her husband Martin and daughter Elizabeth, was introduced by Joyce Cowin. Shariroff praised the staff, the volunteers, and the thousands of individuals that JBFCS helps and houses, according to a  JBFCS statement.

Shafiroff has been the chairwoman of the Southampton Hospital Summer Party in recent years, raising record-breaking sums for the emergency department.
