Report of Barrister's Sale to 75 Main Owner Retracted

The New York Post takes back an item from "Side Dish" column.

An unsourced one-line item in New York Post's "Side Dish" column published online April 21 reported that the owner of 75 Main restaurant in Southampton Village was poised to take over another Main Street restaurant, Barrister's — but now the Post has issued a retraction.

The item began with "we hear," but did not say where the Post heard the rumor from. Though it stated that 75 Main's Zach Erdem was in talks with Barrister's, a correction was published on nypost.com April 29 saying that Barrister’s owner Michael Ferran is "not in talks to sell the eatery or any other asset to Zach Erdem."

Barrister's, located at 36 Main Street, is listed with Corcoran for sale with a price tag of $4.1 million.  That includes the business plus two second-floor apartments. According to the listing, the restaurants seats 55, plus 10 at the bar, 55 on the seasonal patio and 16 on the sidewalk.

In January, 27east reported that Ferran had found a buyer but was still "working things out" before going into contract and completing the sale.

As of May 1, Barrister's remains open and continues its popular $5 "Bail Out Burger" offering on Wednesdays.
