Starbucks Reopens After Carbon Monoxide Scare

Starbucks in Bridgehampton reopened Tuesday morning after workers fixed a problem that caused a carbon monoxide leak that sent three to the hospital on Monday.

"Repairs to the refrigeration unit have been made and the business has re-opened," Southampton Town Chief Fire Marshal Cheryl Kraft said in an email on Tuesday morning.

Starbucks was bustling with activity on Tuesday.

On Monday afternoon, at around 3:30, a carbon monoxide detector sounded while work was being done on the refrigeration unit, Bridgehampton Fire Department Chief Gary Horsburgh said.

Dangerous level is carbon monoxide were detected, he said, and the business was evacuated. Three employees were taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment. Their conditions were unknown on Tuesday.
