Photos: Devil's Heaven at Watermill Center Raises $1.85M

Robert Wilson's Watermill Center held its 20th annual summer benefit July 27, with the theme Devil's Heaven.

The event featured art installations by avante garde artists and attracted celebrities including Alan Cumming, Winona Ryder and Lady Gaga — and even royality, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia.

At the live auction, Lady Gaga won Marina Abramović and Dieter Meier's pieces.

There were more than 20 site specific installations and performances presented by artists Dilek Acay, Jörg Brinkmann, Hope Esser, Anna Graenzer, Christopher Knowles, Carl Lawrence, Lisa Lozano, Trina Merry, John Messinger, Vera Martynova, Mattew Prest, Evangelina Rantou, Zacharry Schoenhut, Ioannis Sidiropoulos, Han Sung Ah, Manu Washaus and Yao Zhang. 

The evening raised $1.85 million for Watermill Center's artist residency programs.

Coming up Sunday, the center's annual Discover Watermill day offers free admission to the public to see many of the same installations. Hours are 3 to 6 p.m.
