Linn grew up in Southampton attending the local public schools before completing her bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She began as a journalism major at UMass, but eventually changed so that she could incorporate media outlets other than simply print journalism into her education. During her college years, she contributed briefly to the campus paper, and spent much of her time writing and helping others with their own writing.
Linn currently resides in Southampton, works at Guild Hall in East Hampton, and volunteers at the Southampton Hospital.
