When I was very young I wanted to grow up and be an Indian chief. Then it dawned on me that I couldn’t be an Indian chief because I wasn’t an Indian. So I decided to be the next best thing and become a physician. At that time our family doctor was a Homeopathic physician so to me that’s what I thought medicine was all about. Later, when I was in high school, he took me to Homeopathic medical conferences with him as I began to study the field.

I was accepted to my first choice medical school, New York Medical College, which by the way was named New York Homeopathic Medical College until 1925. I studied all of the usual things and after medical school and 1 year of a Family Practice residency I did a series of fellowships. I did a fellowship in London and a fellowship in Emergency Medicine in Michigan before starting my private practice in upstate New York. Later I did an extended program in Clinical Immunology which is my first love in medicine.
