Southampton Fire District

The Southampton Fire District was created by the Southampton Town Board in 2003 to negotiate fire protection for theMore hamlets of Tuckahoe, Water Mill and Shinnecock Hills and the Shinnecock Indian Reservation — approximately 16 square miles. A board of commissioners negotiates a fire protection contract with the Southampton Village Board, which overseas the Southampton Fire Department. The Southampton Fire District Board of Commissioners, which is also charged with ensuring the district's hydrants and deep wells as maintained, holds public meetings on the second Thursday of the month at the Tuckahoe School.

The department includes several companies and specialty teams, including Agawam Hose, Agawam Engine, Southampton Hose, fire police, hook and ladder, a rescue squad, water rescue team, rapid intervention team and a junior firefighter corps. The department has two substations, one on Hampton Road and the Shinnecock substation on the corner of St. Andrews Road and and Montauk Highway, across the highway from the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.

The original Hampton Road substation, built in 1959, was razed in 2010 to make room for a new firehouse that meets OSHA standards and has more room for bigger, modern firetrucks. In front of the builting is a 9/11 memorial, which includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The fire department is headquartered in the village on Windmill Lane and a <!-- name: second substation is on St. Andrews Road outside the village, across the street from the Shinnecock Reservation.
Gin Beach

Gin Beach is a Southampton Village beach next to the Southampton Bathing Corporation. It is an unprotected beach. AMore village beach sticker is required to park between the Friday before Memorial Day until the middle of September. Surfcasting, launching power boats and surfing outside of designated areas are prohibited during this period between 9 a.m and 6 p.m. Parking stickers are available at Village Hall and Coopers Beach, free for village residents, at a cost for residents of the Southampton School District and Southampton Fire District and at a greater cost for summer visitors.<br /><br />Camping, alcohol, bonfires, erecting tents, playing hardball, littering, unleashed animals and nudity are prohibited at all times.<br /><br />There is drive-on access, but both a Southampton Village and a Southampton Town Trustees 4x4 beach driving permit are required.</p> <p>The beach is closed when the Agawam Lake drain pipe is open. No swimming, surfing or fishing is permitted at these times.</p>

Surfcasting, launching power boats and surfing outside of designated areas are prohibited during these times. Parking stickers are available at village hall and Coopers Beach. Stickers are free for residents, but offered at a cost for residents of the Southampton School District, Southampton Fire District and summer visitors.</p> <p>Camping, alcohol bonfires, erecting tents, playing hardball, littering, unleashed animals and nudity are prohibited at all times.<br /><br />There is drive-on access, but both a Southampton Village and a Southampton Town Trustees four-by-four beach driving permit are required. There's an air filling station for cars to refill their tires.</p>

Wyandanch Beach

Camping, alcohol bonfires, erecting tents, playing hardball, littering, unleashed animals and nudity are prohibited at all times. Parking stickers are available at village hall and Coopers Beach. They are free for village residents and at a cost for residents of the Southampton School District and Southampton Fire District. They are are greater cost for summer visitors.

Old Town Beach is a Southampton Village beach at the south end of Old Town Road. It is an unprotected beach. AMore village beach sticker is required to park between the Friday before Memorial Day until the middle of September. Surfcasting, launching power boats and surfing outside of designated areas are prohibited during this period between 9 a.m and 6 p.m.</p> <p>Parking stickers are available at village hall and Coopers Beach, free for village residents and at a cost for residents of the Southampton School District and Southampton Fire District, and at a greater cost for summer visitors.<br /><br />Camping, alcohol bonfires, erecting tents, playing hardball, littering, unleashed animals and nudity are prohibited at all times.<br /><br />There is drive-on access, but both a Southampton Village and  a Southampton Town Trustees 4x4 beach driving permit are required.
