I was among the volunteers and glad to do my part. But, when I brought my truckload of garbage…Read More picked up along Montauk Highway I was surprised to see how many people had just taken advantage of the day to get rid of their old furniture and large baby equipment for free. Staff at the landfill were shaking their heads over all of the upholstered furniture, chairs, mattresses, baby walkers, etc. that clearly had never been outdoors. I watched a family toss a table that was clearly in perfect condition, in fact, they asked if any of us wanted it before heaving it over the wall down onto the pile.

Weaving small ellgrass mats is an easy and fun family activity for a beautiful afternoon. We did it…Read More in Agawam Park last fall, but can't make it today. Expect to get your hands wet! The individual mats are then placed in the bays to take root, grow and provide much needed habitat for shellfish, crabs and small fish. The practice of churning, using large engines to plow up the bay bottoms to find clams, used by commerical baymen over the years has destroyed many existing eelgrass beds. This project aims to help reestablish it in protected areas.

The day was perfect. Weather couldn't be better, the riders enthusiastic to support the event, the…Read More volunteer crew did a yeoman's job and I can't say enough about the musicians who added their wonderful talent to the day. Positive responses are still coming in but the simple fact remains our incredible cadre of musicians put many a big smile on all who were in attendance to include our "Warriors" who were amazed at the outpouring of love and respect for their sacrifices.
Bravo to our very special musical community who are more than willing to step up and support a worthy cause and each other.
