U.S. sucks.....as it should. Soccer is not an American sport.
Rollo Tomasi June 27, 2014 at 08:55 am
Plenty of PEOPLE didn't need the note...

If it wasnt for all the media hype, soccer would not even be popular. Next, we will be paying forRead More viewing soccer on our already over charged cable bill that places a surcharge on sports casting. Nice isnt it for those who have no interest in sports what so ever!
Zoom on Brazil cities hosting the World Cup.

Soccer sucks.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A STORY ABOUT OUR SHRINKING ECONOMY, BUT IT'S ABOUT BRAZIL...Doesn't THAT feelRead More good, being like a crappy South American country, this morning ? Replace "Cheer" with Marching Band...talent. difficult routines. practice a lot. Yep. IsRead More Marching Band a sport? Nope. Neither is cheerleading. Nobody is saying cheerleading is not athletic, or whatever. But that doesn't make it a sport...
Jill Longisland June 12, 2014 at 08:06 pm
Who will cheer them on? Will there be cheerleaders for the cheerleaders?
Patricia Mosier June 15, 2014 at 05:57 pm
Cheer leading is most definitely a sport. ..I didn't realize how much it was til my granddaughterRead More started it and how hard it really is.....These kids are incredible and more than just athletes!!!!

Will this "brilliant" Town Board be sending an Assistant Town Attorney to court to denyRead More the same permit to our wounded vets as they prepare next month for the annual Soldier Ride to the Hamptons? No one should be surprised if this Democrat Board disapproves Soldier Ride, as they will just be continuing the Democrat Party war on our beloved veterans. But, if the Board approves the permits for Soldier Ride, seems to me Mr. Goldstein may have an action against the Town.

Figures... Stupid town board

This is a sad story.I know this ride well and the riders traverse through numerous congested hamletRead More and villages. It is a temporary inconvenience on behalf of a group of healthy people who are using (ALTERNATIVE- ENERGY CONSERVING TRANSPORTATION METHODS)Their legs..I have said it before and will continue saying it; East Hampton needs well planned MARKED BIKE LANES .East Hampton's roads, while well kept, are a disgrace in their lack of MARKED BIKE LANES. How about a MARKED BIKE LANE off Montauk Highway where it intersects Dunemere Lane until it becomes Further Lane, then south briefly, on Indian Well Highway, then east again on Bluff Road until it intersects Montauk Highway. In doing so, you bypass the East Hampton and Amagansett hamlets. Costly,an act of guts, yet it will save a lot police headaches and traffic congestion..Most importantly, it will save lives. A tough issue but there are solutions..Good Luck..Chris Tracey

Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.
CowDung July 23, 2014 at 10:20 am
sportsnut: Seems like a perfect opportunity for you to get involved in coaching... If nothingRead More else, becoming a coach will give you a voice in the league to lobby for equal playing time for all kids, and rotation of positions--particularly at the lower levels.

Here are his qualifications... "At OSU, Heilbron led efforts to complete the athleticRead More department’s $157 million fundraising goal as an element of OSU’s broader fundraising initiative. Under his leadership, OSU kicked off the “Our Beaver Nation” annual giving program, he managed capital projects, scholarship endowment, special events, sports specific fundraising and planned gifts. He also served as the primary administrator for men’s basketball and football programs." http://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/osu-s-heilbron-leaving-for-ad-job-at-stony-brook/article_12fa3f12-d70d-11e3-a9ef-001a4bcf887a.html Yes, those are some coaching qualifications !

Someone tell the new owners of Patch - private equity firm Hale - that Patch is only relevant forRead More hyper-local news and information. We will get our sports and weather elsewhere.
Phil Konigsberg February 11, 2014 at 04:04 pm
I agree with New York Patriot - and how about getting what you post comprehensive - since youRead More mentioned the NHL teams that our local area Olympians are affiliated with, how about mentioning that Ryan Callahan is with the NY Rangers. The daily Bayside-Douglaston Patch emailed newsletter needs to be updated on a daily basis. Right now the I receive the identical email every day. Enough with the meatball soup already!

Who the hell cares about Baby-Lon, we are SOUTHAMPTON, we do not need to know about them, we need toRead More know about our great ACADEMIC AND CHAMPIONSHIP students in SOUTHAMPTON, If you want to know about Babylon, go back and look in 1980 when we, Southampton where 20 pt dogs to them on their field and went in and kicked their well, and something no one has talked about was Billy Parishes 7 SACKS in one game, probably still a record, keep the Babylon articles up the Island and talk about EAST OF THE SHINNECOCK CANAL and the GREAT ACADEMIC ATHLETES WE HAVE, A lot of student athletes have been deprived of GOOD SCHOLARSHIPS, because YOU RATHER TALK ABOUT WEST OF THE CANAL.
