SUNY Stony Brook Southampton

<p>Stony Brook Southampton in Shinnecock Hills is located at the former Southampton College, which was started by Long Island University in 1963. Stony Brook University bought the campus in 2006 from LIU.</p> <p>The campus includes a new school, Southampton Arts, building on the success of the <a href="http://www.StonyBrook.edu/mfa">MFA in Creative Writing and Literature</a> program to offer graduate arts education across a number of disciplines. Southampton Arts, which also boasts a secondary campus in Manhattan, has earned national recognition for the level of accomplishment of the faculty, visiting professors and alumni, as well as for its renowned summer conferences in creative writing, playwriting, screenwriting and children's literature. In 2011, Southampton Arts added an MFA in Theatre and Film to its offerings and a theatre directors workshop was added to the summer conference; in the summer of 2012, more theatre workshops and graduate level visual arts workshops are being added to the roster.</p>
