The Southampton Fire Department is a volunteer department serving Southampton Village and the Southampton Fire District, route: {:controller=>"listings", :action=>"show", :id=>"southampton-fire-district"} -->, which includes the Shinnecock Indian Reservation and the hamlets of Tuckahoe, Water Mill and Shinnecock Hills. The department includes several companies and specialty teams, including Agawam Hose, Agawam Engine, Shinnecock Hose, fire police, hook and ladder, a rescue squad, water rescue team, rapid intervention team and a junior firefighter corps. The original Hampton Road substation, built in 1959, was razed in 2010 to make room for a new firehouse that meets OSHA standards and has more room for bigger, modern firetrucks. In front of the builting is a 9/11 memorial, which includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The fire department is headquartered in the village on Windmill Lane and a <!-- name: second substation is on St. Andrews Road outside the village, across the street from the Shinnecock Reservation.
