The Berwind Green, a Southampton Town park, is the site of the Beebe Windmill. The windmill was built in 1820 on Sleight's Hill in Sag Harbor for Lester Beebe, a retired whaling captain and ship building. In fact, the miniature windmill at the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor was designed to look like the Beebe Windmill. The Beebe Windmill has occupied at least five sites, but was moved to its present site in 1914. It was restored in both 1984 and 2009. To tour the windmill, an appointment can be made with the Bridgehampton Historical Society.
