Hamptons Film Festival, SYS 10th Anniversary Celebration This Week

MONDAY

Trustees Meeting: The Southampton Town Trustees meet at Town Hall at 1 p.m.

Planning Board: The Southampton Village Planning Board meets at 6 p.m.

TUESDAY

Town Board: The Southampton Town Board meets at Town Hall at 1 p.m.

Memoir and Personal Essay Writing: A series of five workshops with Eileen Obser begins on Tuesday at Hampton Library in Bridgehampton at 5 p.m. Price: $65 for five sessions

Auditions
: The MFA in Theatre program at Stony Brook Southampton is seeking actors from our community to participate in the exploration of new and existing material with our graduate level directors and playwrights. The audition call will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Avram Theatre, Fine Arts building at Stony Brook Southampton.

Defensive Driving Class at SYS: An Accident Prevention Workshop, sponsored by SYS and FOP Lodge 57, will be given at SYS from 6 to 9 p.m. Price: $45

Menopause and Beyond: Join Hampton Library's group abut menopause, how to make the most of this transition, and how to manage your health beyond menopause. Discover therapeutic options and lifestyle shifts to ensure a renewed sense of wellness in midlife and beyond. Stacey Brosnan, CNM, NP, practices Women's Health at Hamptons Gynecology & Obstetrics in Southampton and Riverhead, will speak. The group meets at 6 p.m.

WEDNESDAY


Wellness Challenge: On Wednesdays from Oct. 9 to Nov 20, 10:30 a.m. to noon, the Wellness Foundation's six-week whole natural plant food and exercise program can change your life. It meets at Hampton Library in Bridgehampton. The cost is $150.00.

Community Science Night
: The first Community Science Night of the 2013-14 school year at Southampton High School from 6 to 8 p.m. Hands-on science activities for all ages and Planetarium shows at 6:10, 6:45 & 7:20.

Conservation Board: The Southampton Town Conservation Board meets at Town Hall at 7 p.m.

ARB: The Southampton Village ARB meets at 7 p.m.

THURSDAY

TOWN BOARD:
The Southampton Town Board will hold a work session at 10 a.m.

VILLAGE BOARD:
The Southampton Village Board will hold at work session at 6 p.m.

PLANNING BOARD:
The Southampton Town Planning Board will meet at Town Hall at 1 p.m. The public hearings will be held at 7 p.m.

Sag Harbor CAC: The Sag Harbor Citizens Advisory Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. at the temporary John Jermain Memorial Library location on West Water Street.

SYS 10th Anniversary Tennis Tournament: SYS hosts mixed doubles Round Robin, starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by men’s and Women’s Round Robin.Prizes and Awards for all competitors. Refreshments and food. Price: $150 per player.

The Birth Monologues: Join East End Advocates for Women's Health at a coffeehouse evening of birth stories at the Parrish Memorial Hall on the grunds of Southampton Hospital at 7 p.m. Share your story with the women of this community to celebrate National Midwifery Week. Free admission.

TEEN EXTREME REC NIGHT: Fun night for kids in 7th through 12th grades. Together with the Town of Southampton, SYS is throwing the biggest Rec. night in years. A DJ, Laser Tag, a Zumba party, competitions, pizza and more all for just $5.

SATURDAY

5K & Kids Fun Run: Join SYS in celebrating its 10th anniverary with a 5K, which starts at 9 a.m. Registration is $25 for 15 years and up, free to those 8 to 14, $35 on the day of the race. All proceeds benefit the SYS Scholarship Fund Race. A Kids Fun Run takes place at 10:30 .m.

Rocket Day at The Children's Museum of the East End: Blast off into the future with CMEE. Celebrate CMEE's campaign for the future at Rocket Day at 10 a.m.

SYS Family Fun Day: At 11 a.m., the celebration continues at SYS with its annual Family Fun Day including DJ Double S, Michael Dollar the Magician, Bouncy Castles, food, games,arts and crafts, Chinese Auction and a chance to win a car. Price: Free for Kids 12 and under, $5 for teens and $10 for adults.

The Laurel Group at Baywoods Fall Festival: All weekend get lost in the Laurel Group's maze, make a scare-crow, get your face painted, paint a pumpkin, or create a miniature fairy or spooky garden. Continues on Sunday.

SUNDAY

The Laurel Group at Baywoods Fall Festival: All weekend get lost in the Laurel Group's maze, make a scare-crow, get your face painted, paint a pumpkin, or create a miniature fairy or spooky garden. On Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m., the festival continues with pony rides and a petting zoo with sheep, goats, chickens and rabbits.
