Vacation Story & Craft: The Amagansett Library will host a vacation day story time and craft for elementary ages children at 2:15 p.m.

New Year's Eve - Town offices open from 9 a.m. to noon, recycling centers open from 7 a.m. to noon.

East Hampton Polar Bear PlungeThe 13th annual Polar Bear Plunge takes place at Main Beach at 1 p.m. The cost to plunge is $30. Registration starts at 11 a.m. Proceeds go to the food pantries in East Hampton Town. Prizes for best costumes. 


Southampton Democratic Club Breakfast: The club will hold its breakfast meeting at the Southampton Publick House from 10 a.m. to noon. The topic will be "How To Make Students Hate School and Teachers Hate Their Jobs: The Testing Catastrophe That Has Descended Upon New York State." Dr. Mark Naison, Professor of African American Studies & History at Fordham University will be the speaker. RSVP By Jan. 1. Tickets: $21 with advance reservation; $25 at  the door; $15 youth/student.

Water Colors Painting Class: On Saturdays from Jan. 4 to Feb. 22, Lois Bender will teach water colors at the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton from 1 to 4 p.m. Students will learn basic watercolor skills and exercises and apply them to still life and floral arrangements, and "indoor" en plein air landscapes using slide show images of world-famous gardens.  The class is for all levels.  Supply list will be provided at time of registration. A beginner kit is available for $20. Classes are $25 each.
