Flash Flood Warning Extended Through 3 p.m.

Southampton Town police communications tower struck by lightning, according to 27East.

The National Weather Service has extended a flash flood warning for southeastern Suffolk County, including Southampton, through 3 p.m.

Heavy rains on the South Fork has caused flooding on major streets, as well as side roads. Lightning hit a communications tower at the Southampton Town Police Department's headquarters in Hampton Bays at about 11 a.m., interfering with the dispatching system, according to 27East. The 911 emergency lines are still up and running, however.

Two to four inches of rain has already fallen from Westhampton east. Another one to two inches are expected through 3 p.m.
