Spin Class Raises $1k for Head Start Programs

One Healthy Hamptons organized inaugural event at Flywheel in East Hampton.

Head Start locations in Bridgehampton and Riverside got a cycling start on fundraising for the upcoming school year.

One Healthy Hamptons, a new organization that focuses on health and fitness, based in Sag Harbor, marked its very first event, raising more than $1,000 for Head Start to fund their ongoing early intervention and family assistance programs.

Shay Kostabi, a well-known FlyBarre & Flywheel instructor, led a benefit 45-minute ride at the Flywheel studio in East Hampton on Saturday.

"We cycled to end the cycle of poverty and we made a difference," Kiley Sabatino, the organizer, said. "One Healthy Hamptons is loving teaming up with this community to rally for a cause."

Sabatino, who started One Healthy Hamptons, focuses on all things health and fitness related in the Hamptons. A former social worker who lives in Sag Harbor, she plans on organizing other fundraisers and gatherings around the South Fork.

Head Start is a program by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help children and families with income levels below the poverty line.

There was a minimum donation of $50 per bike.

Anke's Fit Bakery and Juicy Naam provided refreshments. Prizes were raffled off, including a wine tasting for two at Wolffer Estate Vineyard, a massage at Naturopathica, $100 shopping spree to Gloria Jewel, fresh flowers from Groundworks, and a bakery basket from Anke’s Fit Bakery.
