Great East End Clean-Up Yields 55 Tons of Litter

640 volunteers participated this year.

Some 640 volunteers helped to clean-up Southampton during the 2013 Great East End Clean-up, held April 20 and 21, according to Southampton Town.

The volunteers, the town said, picked up more than 55 tons of litter, including 54.92 tons of municipal solid waste and .51 tons of metal, which will be recycled. 

The amount of waste collected was up from 2012, when 900 volunteers collected 46 tons of litter.
