EMS Committee Honors Ambulance Volunteers

Doug Schneider receives first Nancy Makson Award of Excellence.

The Town of Southampton EMS Advisory Committee honored outstanding volunteers from all the ambulance companies in town during an awards dinner Friday at Seasons of Southampton in Southampton Village, but the top honor of the night during the inaugural event was the presentation of the Nancy Makson Award of Excellence, given to one exemplary volunteer, as selected by the committee.

The late Nancy Makson was a Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance member for 26 years and a founding member. The award, presented by her widower, Robert Makson, was given to Doug Schneider of Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance, an Iraq War veteran and member of the U.S. Coast Guard with 24 CPR saves under his belt.

Town of Southampton EMS Advisory Committee Chairwoman Violetta Zamorski emceed the event.
