Ellen's Run Founder Speaks on Upcoming 5K for Breast Cancer

Julie Ratner is latest guest on web series "Hamptons Chatter" with Patrick McLaughlin.

Julie Ratner, the founder of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation in memory of her sister who died of breast cancer, spoke recently with "Hamptons Chatter" host Patrick McLaughlin about the foundation's works and the upcoming 18th annual Ellen's Run.

Ellen's Run is a 5K walk/run, taking place in Southampton Village, that raises money for breast cancer causes, such as the Ellen P. Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital.

The foundation's The Pink Apron Party, featuring female chefs, is Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., at the intersection of Old Town Road and Wickapogue Road in Southampton Village, on hospital grounds. Christie Brinkley, B. Smith and Dan Gasby are the honorary chairs. The honorees will be Iris Dankner, the founder of Holiday House in Manhattan to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and Dr. Harold Freeman, the founder of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem.

Ellen's Run is Aug. 18 at 9 a.m., rain or shine, beginning at Southampton Hospital's Parrish Memorial Hall in Southampton Village.
