School News - Week of April 14-18

Mr. Matt Doris was a special guest in Mrs. Dansereau's pre-kindergarten class on Friday, April 4th to introduce a unit study on plants.  As the Coordinator of the Tuckahoe Community Garden, Mr. Doris was invited to speak to the students about what a garden is and how it is used to produce healthy food that we eat.  He spoke about how plants are living things that need water and sun to live and grow.  He explained what a garden was and also invited the students to become active members of the Tuckahoe Community Garden.  The students planted snow peas on Monday, April 7th and will also look forward to creating pumpkin patch in the near future.  The children were excited to ask questions and to participate in a buddy reading activity following Mr. Doris's visit to Pre-Kindergarten.  Support Tuckahoe’s Relay for Life Team!  Fight back cancer and have some fun!  Tuckahoe’s Relay for Life Team will be having the following fundraisers:  Car Wash on Friday, May 9th at 3:00-6:00 p.m., and a Chinese Auction on Friday, May 23rd at 7:00 at Southampton High School.  For further information, please contact Justine Charos at 283-3550 ext. 112 or our school nurse, Wendy Meyer at ext. 313.  Parent/Teacher Conferences for the 3rd marking period are on Thursday, April 24th and Friday April 15th; students will have early dismissal at 11:23 a.m. on both of these dates.  Taste of Tuckahoe tickets are now on sale at TasteofTuckahoe.com, at Southrifty Drug and from committee members.
