School News - Week of Feb 10-14

Tuckahoe’s Pre-Kindergarten students went RED for healthy heart awareness day on February 7, 2014.  In physical education class they have been learning about the heart and how it is a muscle that pumps blood throughout your body.  We have been discussing ways to make healthy choices in the classroom such as exercising more and eating healthy snacks like strawberries and other fruits and vegetables!  We are proud to announce the following 7th Grade Girls who are on the Southampton Intermediate School Interscholastic 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team:  Carly Cenzoprano; Sophia Guillo; Isabella Lenihan; Emily Lozada and Yadhira Mentado.  Congratulations Girls!!  Tuckahoe’s 7th Grade Class is sponsoring a Tuckahoe Winter Carnival at SYS (Southampton Youth Services) on Friday, February 28th at 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Admission is $7.00 per person or $25.00 per family; tickets available at the door.  There will be carnival games, laser tag, jump castles, Chinese auction, prizes, food and beverages for purchase.  This is not a drop-off event.  Proceeds will go to support the Class of 2015.  English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. at Tuckahoe School.  The first began on Monday, January 13th.  All are welcome!  A CPR course for our Middle School students will be held on Thursday, February 13th from 2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Tuckahoe School Library.  Permission slips are available and should be returned by Wednesday, February 5th.  There is no cost for the course.  Tuckahoe’s Student Council will be paying for all of the materials and the Southampton Ambulance will be doing the training course.
