On Thursday, December 12th, Mrs. Christina Collins's third grade class had a celebration of Africa! The students had been studying Africa since October. Their study included a trip to the Bronx Zoo, publishing two writing pieces in the computer lab, writing a persuasive essay, a postcard as if they were in Kenya, making an African bracelet, an African pouch and clay animal in Art class, and a beautiful African hut at home. The students presented all their items for their parents and in addition sang two songs in Swahili. The students enjoyed the unit of study and were tremendously proud of all their hard work! The PTO Family Fun Night at SYS (Southampton Youth Services, 1370 Majors Path, Southampton) will be on Friday, January 24th at 6:30-8:30 p.m. Join us for a fun-filled evening with bouncy castles provided by Hampton Balloon, obstacle courses, games, music & snacks!
