Bettina Pennon Plays Mama Winter in 'Mama, I Want To Sing: The Next Generation'

A spotlight on musical mentor Bettina Pennon.

In 2011, I had the honor and pleasure of seeing my musical mentor Evangelist Bettina Pennon play the role of "Mama Winter" in "Mama, I Want To Sing: The Next Generation" written by Vy Higginsen and Ken Wydro. This play touched me more than any play I have ever seen in my life.

Bettina Pennon is not only my musical mentor but she is also a vocal powerhouse anointed by God. I first had the honor of meeting Bettina a few years ago at a local church function. A year after I met her I witnessed her take first place at the McDonald's Gospelfest 2005 in the soloist category. She is an active member of Galilee Church C.O.G.I.C. in Riverhead, New York where her father Supt. Roy  Pennon is the pastor.

Bettina has been apart of many choirs including my favorite choir FAW Celebration Choir, Shekinah Choir just to name a few. She is the soloist on the song Jehovah God You Are My All written by Damien Sneed.  In 2011 she released her first solo cd titled "Just The Beginning" it available for purchase at cdbaby.com, I consider it "A MUST HAVE."

Not only has her voice  been heard locally, she has been heard nationally including Bobby Jones Gospel. She performed the theme song from "Mama, I Want To Sing" theme song recently at the Stellars Awards pre-show party earlier this  year.

The best thing that I love about my musical mentor, is she tells me what I need to hear when it comes to dealing with music and business.  She lets me know if something is worth doing or if its a waste of my time. When I had to sing for youth day at my church as a soloist  I emailed her that morning and said I'm really nervous she responded with "remember nervous is a good thing."
