The insane budget cuts of $$1.2T that the Republicans will enact beginning in January, 2013 will put the East End in the dumpster along with the rest of the nation. All the hard-won gains of the past four years will be reversed. For this eventuality to be avoided, Republicans have to be kept from federal office, both nationally and locally. After their collapse in November, the Republicans can reevaluate their adventure with Luddite extremism.
If not, the Dow will crater and East End tourism will evaporate. On the plus side, the bargains in real estate will be astounding.

$2 billion tax break announced: Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson's backing of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney may not just make political sense for the billionaire -- it may also be in his best interest financially.
Adelson has vowed to spend as much as $100 million to help sway the 2012 election. According to a new report by Seth Hanlon, the director of fiscal reform at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Adelson could turn that investment into a $2 billion tax cut if Romney is elected. Now that's what I call the One Percent Club. Read it in the Huffington Post today (online at www.huffingtonpost.com ).

Hey would people be foolish to vote against their finacial interest or patriotic? If it's good for the whole country? Tough one!
Rose Way September 11, 2012 at 08:52 pm
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a comment made by Mitt Romney has made Russia feel justified in opposing America's missile defense plans in Europe.
Romney has branded Russia the "No. 1 geopolitical foe" of the United States (sounds like another profitable arms race for Romney's financial backers..cha-ching). Putin said Tuesday that Romney's statement shows Russia is right to criticize the U.S.-led NATO plan to place land- and sea-based radars and interceptors in several European locations. Washington says the shield is intended against a possible missile attack from Iran, but Moscow sees it as a threat to its security. Putin said in remarks carried by Russian news wires that Romney's statement has "strengthened Russia's positions in talks on this important and sensitive subject." Putin concluded by saying "Romney is a putz - Americans are screwed if he wins".
T.J. Clemente September 11, 2012 at 08:58 pm
Rose Way: So in effect you are happy with President Obama's overall foriegn policy and believe Romney will be less qualified than Obama was 4 years ago, or are you saying the "Putz" Romney is aiming foriegn policy in the wrong direction. This may be an important point on security issues.
Fish Proudheart September 11, 2012 at 08:59 pm
Romney is inept at foreign policy. Hilary Clinton could wipe up the floor with Romney's idiotic double-talk. Notice that neither Romney nor Ryan have spoken about international affairs...any wonder; they think you have to have a girlfriend in order to have a position.
Billy J September 11, 2012 at 09:10 pm
The best person for the well being and fiscal health of the east-end is the east-ender. No politician is going to be better or worse for anyone. They are one person and Congress actually makes the laws. Rely on yourself and make sure you save in your own retirement plan. Regardless of what town, hamlet, city, metropolis to which you may travel, the part of town that relies on the government complex is ALWAYS worse off than the part of town inhabited by people who relied on themselves....roads and bridges notwithstanding.
T.J. Clemente September 11, 2012 at 09:15 pm
Ah Billy J, well spoken, it all starts with the voter and perhaps not just his vote,
Jean September 11, 2012 at 10:12 pm
Fish ProudHeart...Obama knew absolutely nothing about foreign policies when he was elected in 2008. Furthermore, he still does not know anything. He had no experience whatsoever to be President of the USA. I just want to see our country get back on track and Obama failed in his first four years to do anything to make that happen. I respect everyone's opinion.

Complete utter bull crap, your stinking dirty democrats are just as much to blame. Please show a little bit of intellectual integrity.
Hazel Wilkonson the First September 11, 2012 at 11:05 pm
Preliar, you telling someone to show some intellectual integrity is like an ape telling someone to show some table manners! You know what kind of person talks like you, a person who is losing!
highhatsize September 11, 2012 at 11:50 pm
Au contraire. It is all lamentably true. It is the Republicans alone, particularly the House Republicans, who are the authors of the incipient catastrophe. No Democrats wanted to vote for this insanity but the Republican fanatics in the House were actually prepared to put in US into default if the Democrats didn't concede. The Democrats were compelled to chose between economic disaster and national suicide. They chose the former because it could be recovered from - - - eventually. The outcome of a national default was just too deadly to contemplate.
Watching the House Republicans back then was like watching the pod people in "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers." They were obviously motivated by an overweening drive to which normal people were immune.
T.J. Clemente September 11, 2012 at 11:56 pm
yet we find ourselves in the exact some position as before, i feel they all should be held responsible like a $10,000 per day fine
Whale Ofaguy September 12, 2012 at 12:19 am
America is very much back on track, as you say. Your issue is giving credit to President Obama who brought us here. You want the monkey back in charge of the zoo again. Look what happened when Bush-Cheney ran the nation...a disaster in every respect.
Today's Eichenberg report on the CIA having clearly and credibly told Cheney about Bin Laden 6 months before 9-11 are shocking. It seems Cheney had a war path planned (for Haliburton to profit by) and manipulated the CIA reports to his liking; using his words, not the CIA's, to convince a very stupid man...Bush. We attacked the wrong enemy, tens of thousands died. We attacked Iraq, thousands of Americans died. All-in-all it was a major clusterfuck; I hope you'll pardon the frank expression. You cannot ask a person of even average intelligence to believe that it would be right to put the Republicans who placed us into this horrid mess back into the White House. I am not that person to whom you speak. I caution others listening to you to approach with extreme caution anyone suggestion that Americans can trust Romney and Ryan. See today's Huffington Post (online) and read about the $2 BILLION...yes I said BILLION...tax cut that the biggest casino owner will get if Romney is elected. That's why he has pu up $100 million out of pocket to throw this election. You'll need a reason at least that strong to vote for Romney who, after all, is just a pimp for guys like that.

America is on the right track now? Where is that track to, economic ruin? Third world status? Bankruptcy? Fluff it any way you like Obama failed, made promises he could not keep and is now AWOL from his job as puts all his energy into his re-election.
On the 11th anniversary of 9/11 our embassy in Cairo is overrun by crazed Islamist who tear down our flag and raise the banner of Al-Qaeda, more radicals attack our consulate in Libya and a staff member and our President who was such a staunch supporter of the Arab Spring refuses to meet with Prime Minister of Israel to talk about the growing nuclear threat of Iran because the son-of-a-bitch is too busy campaigning to save his sorry ass. If you think this jerk deserves another term good for you, history will remember you and the rest who vote for him as fools.
Oldvet September 12, 2012 at 01:01 am
Since when do we take the word of a Russian politician, this is credible? Now I've read it all. P.S. how about that open mic? Obama requesting the Russian to wait until after the election, that he'll have more flexibility with his decision. A President who apologizes for America to the world. OK he looks out for the intersts of Americans. FANTASY..
T.J. Clemente September 12, 2012 at 02:01 am
So has not President Obama ended the Iraq nightmare, and what can anyone do with Afghanistan?
Preliator September 12, 2012 at 09:48 am
If you mean end it by following the Bush timeline then yes but then again a Obama cardboard cut out could have been in office and our troops would have left. Funny thing though, no liberal/Democrat seems to care that he was negotiating to try and leave more combat troops in Iraq past that deadline what does that matter, Bush ended the war in Iraq.

I just read a wonderful little piece in Newsday this morning on how the 2008 bailouts were working so go ahead and give credit to the right man, President George W. Bush.
Barack Obama...he was just the junior senator from Illinois.
Preliator September 12, 2012 at 01:40 pm
The only choice for national suicide is voting for Barack Obama. Our embassies were attacked, the ambassador killed and our flag replaced with the banner of the enemy and our government apologizes to the terrorists. Every day the Obama camp looks more and more like the failed Carter years. You can go ahead and vote for the Traitor-in-chief Barack Hussein Obama, I am going to vote for a man who will put the country first.
I don't know who is the greater threat now, terrorists like Al-Qaeda or internal threats like the Democrat party.
Veterans Against Altschuler September 13, 2012 at 02:36 pm
President Barack Obama vowed in a Rose Garden address that the U.S. would "work with the Libyan government to bring to justice" those who killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, information manager Sean Smith and two other Americans who were not identified. Three other Americans were wounded.
Bye Bye Romney September 13, 2012 at 02:39 pm
They messed with Obama...look out! Romney did not want to chase Al Qaeda, if you recall, and he didn't want to save GM. Obama took them both on, got Bin Laden and saved millions of jobs that Romney would have lost.
Jaguar-Guy September 17, 2012 at 12:33 pm
Obama hasn't handled the economy one bit. It is all being done by Ben Bernacke. Obama hasn't a clue, and if it wasn't for Bernacke saving Barack's bacon with the markets, Romney would have a 10 point lead right now. Obama has zero affect on the markets. How about those gas prices lately - $4.60 and going up and up . . .
Preliator September 17, 2012 at 01:06 pm
Barack Obama's recovery plan has worked so good that Bernanke and the Fed feel it is necessary for QE3 and for them to buy $40 billion dollars of debt of month for a year. Note that this money does not exist and yet again the Fed will just print up the cash to pay for this. Also this is more of that 'trickle down economics' that Barack Obama said doesn't work. Do any of you think he'll call up Bernanke and tell him to stop?
Veterans Against Altschuler September 17, 2012 at 05:11 pm
Romney refuses to show the details of his budget. Why?
Altschuler refuses to speak out against VA benefit cuts. Why? Ryan refuses to stop lying about Medicare cuts. Why? Romney-Ryan and Altschuler are using the "Southern Campaign" of lies? Why? Because they have no answer to our problems. If they did, they would have spoken up long ago...to help American when we needed help the most. Then, as now, they're playing politics with Americas future. That's NOT a lie. It's the truth and we must face it. It's the reason we can't support these men when we go to the polls in November. Vote for America...Vote for Obama.
Preliator September 17, 2012 at 06:15 pm
And you don't think Obama is playing politics? Romney launched an ad highlighting how Obama has done nothing to address the unfair economic policies of China; guess who just filed a complaint. That is right, in direct response to Romney's attack Obama acted.
Not last year, not two years ago ; now. Why, because it is an election year and President Dip-Sh!t needs to look like he is doing some thing, anything. It is the same reason he issued that dictate for illegals two months ago, Dream Act Light. Obama promised Immigration Reform in his first year and did nothing. Second year, nothing, third the same. Now as a desperate attempt to pander to Latinos he gave out his command to change policy, no vote, no approval, just the whims of a desperate man desperate to cling to power.

Hey hows that Obamanomics working now?
Fourth quarter GDP a negative Unemployment up Consumer confidence down Gas ticking up already Awesome.
Frank T February 1, 2013 at 04:10 pm
Obama is focused like a laser beam on important issues like women in combat, free contraception, gay marriage, open borders and football injuries.
Hazel Wilkonson the First February 1, 2013 at 04:40 pm
Get over yourself, Preliar.
January's Strong Jobs Report Trumps a Decline in GDP The Bureau of Labor Statistics, a unit of the Labor Department, said the January increase in nonfarm payrolls was 157,000, close to the 165,000 median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg. The unemployment rate, which is based on another survey, rose a tick to 7.9 percent, from 7.8 percent. But the big surprise was the upward revision in job growth at the end of 2012. The economy added 247,000 jobs in November and 196,000 in December, the BLS said. That’s a total of 127,000 more for the two months than previously estimated. Bottom line: Friday’s report is truly good news, indicating that this week’s report of a decline in GDP was probably a false alarm. http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-02-01/januarys-strong-jobs-report-trumps-a-decline-in-gdp Oh, and by the way, Consumer Confidence is down because Americans do not trust dysfunctional, obstructionist Republicans to do anything. And Obama's favorables are the highest they've been since O9 when he inherited an economy of the verge of collapse. You need to find a new pony to ride. Pathetic you have to go back to an article from September to find a reason to spew your extremism.
Darren Gengarelly Sr. February 1, 2013 at 09:06 pm
So we add almost a half a million jobs and the un-employment rate still rose? Care to explain? (oh i know why). Just want to have a good laugh at your propaganda machine based answers.
"dysfunctional , obstructionist republicans" are the reason consumer confidence is down? Republicans lost their power years ago. Libs are driving the bus. You see the people that have money to spend if they choose tend to be hard working , Independent types. All the people on the government "tit" never have extra to spend due to the choices they have made. Thus the lack in consumer spending would actually fall on the shoulders of hard working , self-reliant people. People who do not trust the present administration i would imagine. See Hazel , some of us can even think for ourselves , regardless what some may think. Pathetic you have to use propaganda to replace rational thought.

What's the matter, Maud, didn't think anyone would call you out on your lunatic conspiracy theory?Read More Your entire thesis is steeped in teaparty bs and supported by links to youtube nuts and right wing organizations. You dispute global warming because you are a shill of corporat liars who use your ignorance to promote their agenda. Yours is at textbook case of science denial "There are a number of areas of science where the evidence has become so overwhelming that a scientific consensus forms. For example, the consensus on the link between smoking and cancer, that HIV causes AIDS or that humans are causing global warming. Where there is a scientific consensus, there are often movements that deny the scientific evidence. All of these denialist movements have been found to share 5 common characteristics, including cherry picking, conspiracy theories and fake experts."
