This is a shout out to honor Don Alexander, who passed away recently.
He loved the Hamptons and had many guests at his Hamptons home over the 30 years or more he owned that house. He was quick to spot me and send a drink my way which was always appreciated. He read many of my articles in Dan's Papers and recently my blog posts on Patch.
Word is, Don died, two or three weeks ago. He was an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University and when he never showed up for class early this month, the school sent police to his house in Southampton to search for him, and that is how and where he was found.

His brother Paul got the police report — heart attack.
Don was a friend to so many of his brothers and sisters of the New York Athletic Club. Mark Tully was the club member who first introduced me to Don. Besides Stony Brook, Don was a consultant for RSD Solutions, and had an affiliation with NYU. He also worked for Citigroup. He attended/graduated The Ohio State University-Max M. Fischer College of Business. His kindness was one of always offering a drive, a place to stay, or a drink to celebrate the good cheer of life in the Hamptons. I last saw him in Bridgehampton perhaps two months ago, he bought me and my new wife a drink and congratulated us and promised to go sailing with me this year, a pledge he had made at least once over the last 9 years. Paul Alexander will be holding a memorial service in loving memory of his brother, Don Alexander, on Saturday, April 20, from noon to 1 p.m. (calling hours) followed by a few eulogies with the service concluding at 2 p.m. The Memorial will be held at Brockett Funeral Home.
