The pairing of wine and cheese is even greater when live relaxing music and a beautiful Sagaponack sunset over a vineyard is added to the mix.
Wölffer Estate Vineyard has offered just that for several summers on Fridays at its Wine Stand on Montauk Highway, and the weekly event has now become so popular that Wölffer has added Saturdays to the schedule.
Whole families attend, as kids enjoy playing and running around on the field. In fact, on July 6, "Royal Pains" star , kicking around a soccer ball with his three children.
"Sunset Fridays" begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until the sun goes down. There are some tables at the Wölffer Wine Stand, but many guests bring beach chairs or a blanket and find a spot on the lawn to enjoy a bottle of red or white and a gourmet cheese plate. Charcuterie plates and lobster rolls are also available for purchase. There is no cover charge.
"Sunset Saturdays" starts a little later, at 5:30 p.m. The deal is the same: Live music, no cover.
Wölffer offers free music on a worknight as well — every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Winery Tasting Room on Sagg Road.
During "Twilight Thursdays," the band plays under a covered terrace and wine by the glass or bottle and cheese and charcuterie plates are available.
