Killer Bees Lose Consolation-Round Heartbreaker to East Hampton

Bridgehampton falls 79-42 to the Bonackers in the last day of the Southampton Youth Services Holiday Classic.

In the second annual Southampton Youth Services Holiday Classic tournament, the tough times continued through the first round of play to the consolation round for , which fell 79-42 to East Hampton Saturday night.

"In the first quarter, we were still within striking distance," said Bridgehampton coach Carl Johnson. "We couldn't seem to handle the pressure, and we weren't taking care of the ball. We didn't solve their half-court and full-court traps."

Bridgehampton used its man-to-man defense to greater advantage at the outset, with foul calls compromising some of those efforts. Not helping matters any, Jason Hopson rolled his ankle halfway into the first quarter. With one of the Bees' main scorers injured, the team was at a disadvantage on both ends of the court.
