Vineyard Field in Summer: A Vibrant, Grassland Ecosystem Part 2

Cosponsored by FLPG & the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo).  The grasslands of Vineyard Field, the field behind the SoFo museum, represent a significant and vanishing habitat. For the past seven years, FLPG has made great strides in maintaining, and in some cases restoring the health of this rare ecosystem, which is comprised of ponds, wetlands, wildflowers, and native grasslands, and is home to many rare and endangered native plants, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. On this second in a series of seasonal walks in the Field (the first took place in the spring), join experienced naturalist and FLPG Honorary Board Member, Jim Ash, as you explore this area – preserved by the Town of Southampton – and learn about its importance to the well-being of our environment. A third walk will take place in the fall.  To make a reservation for this program, please call the museum at 631-537-9735.
