Bridgehampton/Pierson Field Hockey Push For State Champs

Field Hockey action is winding down as the Lady Whalers advance to the final four teams left in the state.

After securing the Suffolk County Class C Championship against the Southampton Mariner's the Bridgehampton/Pierson field hockey team secured the Long Island Championship and earned their way into the state playoff tournament.

Now the Lady Whalers have advanced to the semifinals after a double-overtime win against Pawling. Bridgehampton/Pierson will now face Whitney Point in the semifinal contest on Saturday at 1:30 at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

If the Lady Whalers should get past Whitney Point, they'll advance to the state championship game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Bridgehampton/Pierson hasn't reached the finals since 2010, when they lost 1-0 in overtime to Cazenovia, according to a recent article in Newsday.

Some of the players from that 2010 team are now seniors, playing in their final games of their high school career.
