SHS Students Finalists in East End Seaport Museum's Challenge

Several students in Jennifer Keller's AP Environmental Science classes have been named finalists in East End Seaport Museum's East End Challenge. The challenge, open to all high school students of the East End was to "complete a project that explores the intersection of science and art – much as Rachel Carson did, who used literature to express the findings of her rigorous scientific observations." Claire Hunter completed a project on Mecox Bay; Nathalia Gracia, Gwen Clarke, and John Kraus completed a project on septic pollution in our bays; Carley Guida, Harrison Carter and Allison O'Connor completed a project on cultural eutrophication in Agawam Lake; Shannon Manley, Cassie Scanlon and Eden Benard completed a project on litter; and Maria Clemente and Kassandra Taraku completed a project on DDT and bioaccumulation in ospreys on the east end. The students and their projects will be honored at a reception at the East End Seaport Museum on May 25th. Congratulations to all!
