Southampton Elementary Lunchtime Chess Committee 1 Step Closer to Fundraising Goal

The SES Lunchtime Chess Committee held an afternoon Chess Fundraiser on March 9.

More than 30 people, including boys and girls in kindergarten through fourth drade, parents, and staff members came together during the afternoon of March 9 to participate in the Southampton Elementary School Student Council Lunchtime Chess Committee's Chess Fundraiser.

The event was held to reach the committee's goal to raise half of the cost of a giant chess set for the SES playground. The SES Parent-Teacher Organization has agreed to donate the remaining funds for the set. The Friday afternoon yielded $82 toward their goal and will be supplemented with the committee's Car Wash planned for April 28.

The Lunchtime Chess Committee would like to thank Mr. Bill Rodriguez, Mr. Christian Ceri, Ms. Whitall, and Mr. Bacon for their participation and support at the Chess Event and the SES PTO for their donation.
