SIS Students, Teacher, and Assistant Principal Help Build School

Southampton Intermediate School students, teacher, and assistant principal spent a week in the Dominican Republic to help build a school.

Southampton Intermediate School Assistant Principal Susan Wright and 5th Grade Dual Language teacher Ellen Martin returned this week from a week in Constanza, Dominican Republic where they worked alongside 8th grade Dual Language students Olivia Bruyn and Shelby Pierson to complete the second story of the Cecani School.

Mrs. Wright had helped to build the first story in 2011, and Sra. Martin, Olivia, and Shelby were inspired to return with her this year.  The group painted, constructed cinderblock walls, learned to stucco, and helped to build relationships between SIS students and Cecani students through Skype sessions.
