Grade 3-8 Performance, SHS Course Protocol, and Grading and Ranking to Be Discussed at BOE Meeting

An important Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the 's Music Room.

Dr. Nick Dyno, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, will present a slide report and discussion on Grade 3-8 student performance on the most recent NYS English Language Arts and Mathematics assessments.  The report will show comparisons with regional and NYS averages.  The presentation will also show year-to –year trends with reference to program changes and supports designed to further improve performance.

Dr. Brian Zahn, Interim Principal, will discuss a new Course Access Protocol for students who wish to take our most challenging courses.  Based on past achievement and current skills, certain students must agree to take advantage of additional support services that will be offered, as well as their options should they decide to change their course schedule during the school year.

Finally, the Board of Education’s Policy Committee will continue discussion on proposed changes to the district’s policy on student ranking and recognition, as well as the treatment of various on-line and college courses.
