Stay Ahead of Holiday Weight Gain

It's that time of year again... holiday party munchies, sweet goodies, and calorie-filled drinks are readily available and tough to resist! Many factors can contribute to unhealthy eating habits, including stress and lack of sleep. Even aches and pains can cause people to seek the comfort of rich holiday foods.

Let the Ed & Phyllis Davis Wellness Institute at Southampton Hospital help you navigate through the temptations of the holiday season. Join us in December and into 2014 for workshops that will calm your mind and heal your body.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Mood (December 10 at 6:00 p.m.) in Southampton is perfect for anyone who needs help learning to relax. Participants will learn a variety of meditation and relaxation techniques to restore a sense of health and well-being.

A free Holiday Stress Workshop (December 12 at 1:00 p.m.) in Hampton Bays will help people calm their mind and body to manage temporary holiday pressures. Learn to enjoy each moment of the holidays instead of stressing out!

Massage is one of the best ways to unwind and curb stress eating. Thankfully, the Ed & Phyllis Davis Wellness Institute is offering a Holiday Massage Special ($70 per hour), with appointments in Southampton, Westhampton, Hampton Bays, and East Hampton. Book an appointment for yourself or buy a gift for someone on your list!

If you happen to overindulge, don’t worry. Thinner, a monthly weight loss program will begin on January 3, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in Southampton, with discussions covering topics such as grocery shopping, label reading, and how your body responds to food. Enlighten yourself and make better choices when it comes to food.

Hypnosis for Weight Loss (January 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.) in Southampton will adjust mental cues to combat over-eating and identify triggers to help patients manage eating habits. This workshop helps people view food as nourishment rather than an activity or distraction.
