Iris Dankner, founder of Holiday House in New York and Holiday House Hamptons, benefitting breast cancer research, and services and Dr. Harold Freeman, Chairman Emeritus and founder of the Ralph Lauren Cancer Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem are the honorees.

The Ellen Hermanson Foundation funded the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital, which opened in August, 2009.  The foundation founded Ellen’s Well in 2000.  Facilitated by an oncological social worker, Ellen’s Well provides free psychosocial support to breast cancer survivors and their families.

In December, 2012 The Ellen Hermanson Foundation pledged a minimum of $220,000 to underwrite the purchase of the Dual Detector Tomosynthesis System. This cutting-edge screening technology will save lives with its ability to take three-dimensional pictures of the breast, resulting in more accurate readings, fewer call backs and earlier detection. The addition of this technology to the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital will insure that it remain a state-of-the-art breast imaging center of excellence.
