Did you know that WVVH-TV Hamptons TV, the local TV station at East Hampton Studio, airs international programming? This year, the station covered the 2011 Emirates Australian Open (golf) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
This year was WVVH’s tenth year with exclusive rights to air the Canadian Football League Grey Cup Championship game, the CFL East and CFL West Divisional Championship games. The 99th regional championship games were held in November. The half-time entertainment was the Canadian rock band Nickleback.
“Last year's live CFL games were a big success” said Ernie Schimizzi, President and General Manager of WVVH. “With many fans requesting to see the CFL again, we [were] excited to be sharing the great football action again with our New York viewers.”
Also in November, WVVH provided live coverage of the 2011 Emirates Australian Open. This year's event featured Tiger Woods, Australia's two-time major runner-up, Jason Day, and top-ranked Americans Dustin Johnson, Fred Couples, Matt Kuchar, Nick Watney, Hunter Mahan and Bubba Watson, as well as defending champion Geoff Ogilvy.
