  • Open Studio for Children and Caregivers - The new open art studio is a place for families to engage, explore, and create art together through hands-on activities. Each month features a different theme and a variety of art materials and techniques inspired by the artwork on view in the galleries. Parrish staff and volunteers will be available for questions, but families are invited to work independently at their own pace, 279 Montauk Highway Water Mill, All ages must be accompanied by an adult, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • FAMILY FUN: HAULING A SEINE - Visit Mashomack as a full moon rises over the bay! As the weather warms, the waters are coming alive. Come help give a hand pulling in a 300’ haul seine and get a close up look at the creatures and plants that live under the sea! A haul can bring in striped bass, bluefish, porgies, fluke, flounder, and several species of crab. This demonstration of a traditional East End fishing method is appropriate for both children and adults; bring the whole family! A marshmallow roast will follow the haul.   • POLLOCK FAMILY DRIP PAINTING, Directed by children's book author, Joyce Raimondo, children and adults tour the home and studio of famous abstract artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner.   • WIKUN VILLAGE AT SHINNECOCK MUSEUM GRAND OPENING: Learn Our Past, Share Our Story. The Wikun Village at the Shinnecock Museum opens its doors and comes alive. The weekend activities include guided tours, singing and social dancing, children’s programs, traditional skills demonstrations, traditional cuisine and commemorative gift giveaways, the Wikun Village, the Shinnecock Museum-100 Montauk Highway in Southampton, families, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (www.ShinnecockMuseum.com or call (631) 287-4923)

Hamptons Mamas has more than just listings of programs and events for children. The website is loaded with a lot of helpful listings for parents as well, I have listings of babysitters, au pairs, mother's helpers, tutors, private swim instructors, family photographers, farmers' markets, yoga classes, la maze classes and more. The more the community gets involved and in contact with me, the better and more helpful the website becomes and is becoming.
