'Shop Hop' in Southampton for a Cause

A new program aims to help local charities and non-profits.

The Southampton Chamber of Commerce is looking to help out area non-profits and charities through a new shopping program, called, "Shop Hop." 

The program, said the chamber, asks local businesses, including retailers, hotels, motels and restaurants, to stay open later on the first friday every month and donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity or non-profit that is chosen by the chamber. 

The first monthly 'Shop Hop is set for Dec. 6 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. with proceeds set to go to the Southampton Center. 

Already, several business have signed up to participate with more opting to join by the day. 

So far, participating in the first "Shop Hop' is Sea Green Design, The Southampton Inn, Vines and Branches, Stich, Anana's Spa, Horse Haven, The Publick House, Quemar Candles, Erika's House, Twist, the Open Minded Concierge, Flying Point Surf and Sport, Theory and Palm Produce.

Each business has agreed to donate between 5 and ten percent of their sales to the cause.
