Teachers Will Cede Raises in Bridgehampton

Civil Service employees will also forgo pay increases as district aims to comply with tax cap.

The Bridgehampton teachers' union and Civil Service Employees Association have agreed to forgo salary increases for the 2012-13 school year to help District adhere to a 2 percent cap in tax levy increases mandated by the state, reports.

Bridgehampton School Superintendent Dr. Lois Favre announced the news Wednesday during the School Board meeting and made a presentation the same night to the Bridgehampton Citizens Advisory Committee, according to The Press.

For a school district to exceed the state tax cap, 60 of voters must agree when the budget is put on the ballot in May.
