Southampton Will Pause To Remember 9/11

During halftime of a field hockey game on Wednesday, a memorial lap will be held.

The Southampton community will come together to honor those lost on 9/11.

The Southampton High School Student Council, STA and Southampton Fire Department will host the second annual 9/11 memorial lap during halftime of the varsity field hockey game on Wednesday. The game starts at 6 p.m., and halftime will be roughly at 6:45 p.m.

The community is invited to wear red, white or blue in honor of 9/11. "At halftime we will invite anyone in the stands and field to join us for the lap, led by our local volunteers," Brian Tenety said.

"It is a great way to bring the community together while remembering those lost. All are welcome to join as this is also to remember anyone lost on this day," he said.

The Mariners are taking on Sayville in their home opener.
