Career Day Shows Students Possibilities

Southampton Intermediate School Career Day introduces students to professions.

During Career Day at Southampton Intermediate School on Friday, students could peruse booths staffed by professionals in fields as diverse as law, psychology and equestrian.

Among those giving their time to Career Day were a member of the FBI, a U.S. Air Force servicewoman, a social worker, a veterinarian, an air traffic controller and police officers.

"The students visit the booths to find out about the individuals' careers, ask questions about their professions, and in some cases, explore the tools of the trade," said Southampton School District community relations specialist Amy Pierson.

Officers with local volunteer services also joined the event. Chief Mark Klinger represented Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance. Representing Southampton Fire Department were 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Brenner, Captain David Squirell, 1st Lt. John Reister and 1st Lt. Alfred Callahan.
