Pierson Ranked No. 437 High School in Nation

Newsweek looks favorably on Sag Harbor's high school.

In a list released this month, Newsweek ranks Sag Harbor's No. 437 among America's Best High Schools 2012.

The top-1,000 list ranks schools "that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads." Six components provided by school administrators make up the rankings: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student (5 percent).

Pierson's graduation rate was 99 percent and 96 percent of graduates were college bound. AP/IB test averages were 0.5, average ACT scores were 21 and average SAT scores came in at 1598.
