Photo of the Day: Card Contest Winners Picked

Fundraiser transforms student artwork into holiday greeting cards.

For the last three years, the has hosted a fundraiser that transforms student artwork into holiday greeting cards. This year’s winners of the Holiday Card Contest are third graders Ben Giufurta and Sebastian Frowein and second graders Sofia Skoldberg and Avril Melissa Gonzalez.

The contest, which is sponsored by Printhampton, and Southampton Artists Association, is a fundraiser to purchase holiday gifts for elementary school families who may not be able to purchase their own gifts. Under the direction of Principal Bertha “Cookie” Richard, Assistant Principal Brian Zahn, and members of the student council, students in first through fourth grade submitted holiday drawings to be selected for a print run of 500 holiday cards.

Submissions for the contest are now on display at the school. To increase the excitement for the students, local artists Sonia Strafford and Jim Whiteman judged the artwork.
