Lady Mariners Fall to Flaming Arrows in Suffolk County Final

Southampton High School girls basketball team still has the Long Island Class B championship game to look forward to.

The Lady Mariners fell behind the Sachem East Flaming Arrows early on during the Suffolk County finals Friday and could not close the deficit, ultimately losing 42-54.

Southampton, the school school champion, faced Sachem, the large school champion, at Ward Melville High School in Setauket.

Coming up Wednesday, March 6, Southampton heads to Hofstra University in Hempstead to take on the Nassau County Class B Champions for the Long Island title in the regional semifinals.

Southampton High School is chartering a bus for spectators to Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. game. Permission slips are available in the athletic office for students, and community members may contact Cel Gravano by Tuesday at  631-591-4615 or cgravano@southamptonschools.org to reserve a spot. Admission to the game is $7.
