Orientation Delayed, School to Open on Time

Southampton administrator foresees power being restored in time for the first day of school.

As a result of a power outage due to Tropical Storm Irene, has rescheduled freshman orientation to Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m.

"Southampton High School did not have power as of Wednesday morning," Superintendent J. Richard Boyes, Ed.D., wrote in a letter posted on the district's website. "The building is open, but the loss of power has delayed contractors as well as our custodial staff who are completing final cleanup. We look forward to power restoration and to a normal opening next week."

 will open for teachers and staff on Tuesday, and for students next Wednesday, Sept. 7. Also that Wednesday, the Southampton High School Student Council is hosting a welcome back party at between 6 and 8 p.m. for students and faculty.

Parents sessions  will be Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
